I must confess a certain love for clips.  They have an enormous range of sensation and psychological effect, and can be used and modified in infinite ways. Ever seen a man near tears from a few cow shaped "novelty" clips?  Or teeny weeny pink clips?  Very humiliating. 

A very financially approachable form of play, it can become a bit like coin collecting. Hardware stores, dime stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, marine stores, farm and scientific supply houses, hobby shops -- who knows where you'll find that 1909-S VDB Lincoln penny.  My partner tells me I can be heard Gollum-ishly whispering "My Precious" while arranging my clip box.  I think he's kidding, but ...
