Making Edgy Play Safer
... So We Can Make Safe Play Edgier

Toto, we're not into Fuzzy Pink Handcuffs anymore.

My play has gotten edgier over time, making my scene-safety job ever more important and complex.  Infection,  trauma,  shock and more -- not good ways to end a scene.

Not surprisingly, there's very little formal research available on BDSM safety, so I want to share my own "risk management" practices.  I make no pretense to be "the" expert on "the" right way to do things, but hope this site can be a springboard for your personal research on safer practices. And if you find a new technique -- or improvement on an old one -- that you think we should know about, please contact us.

We've got skin in this game, you know.  Not mine, mind you. But still ...

  • H1N1 Flu Alert

    There are a few easy things you can do to reduce the risk of getting "swine flu".  The most important:

    • wash your hands frequently;
    • use a hand sanitizer (such as Purell); and

    • get the H1N1 vaccine if you're in a high risk group (eg, pregnant, in close contact with babies under 6 months old, under 25 years old, at increased risk of complications arising from the flu or are a health care worker).

    See the CDC's 2009 H1N1 (Swine Flu) Web Site for more information.
